Glenn WithersGlenn studied Physiotherapy in Melbourne, Australia, graduating over 10 years ago. He gained a post-graduate scholarship to further enhance his skills and completed a further year of direct clinical tuition under one of Australia’s leading clinicians. Glenn then gained a further scholarship to study the clinical effectiveness of the Pilates Method. Following this, Glenn co-foundered the world renowned “Modified Pilates Rehabilitation Program” and now lectures worldwide on its effectiveness. Over the last 10 years Glenn has lectured internationally, worked extensively in private practice, Sports Physiotherapy and Orthopaedics in both Australia and the UK. Glenn currently consults to a number of premier league football clubs, the British Bobsleigh Association, local Athletics clubs and travelling sporting teams from Australia. Furthermore, Glenn is now considered one of London’s premier physiotherapists in the rehabilitation of acute and chronic spinal pain, working very closely with many leading surgeons on both pre and post operative rehabilitation programs. Glenn is now the vice-chair of the Assoc. of Chartered Physiotherapists in Exercise therapy (ACPET) involved in setting standards for exercise therapy in the physiotherapy industry. Glenn was nominated for the ‘Physiotherapist of the year’ award in 2007.
In 2002, Glenn opened the first Pilates and Physiotherapy centre in Hampstead. Glenn is currently the residing Clinical Director of the three Pilates Art Physiotherapy Centres in Hampstead, Wimbledon and Kilburn. Glenn currently consults out of the Kilburn centre.

In his spare time, Glenn most loves spending time with his family, Elisa and two year old Jasmine and one year old Xavier. Glenn has always enjoyed participating at a high level in sports including basketball, triathlon and marathon running. Glenn’s main goal for 2008/9 – A sub 3 hour marathon!

Elisa Withers
Elisa graduated, with honors, from LaTrobe University in Melbourne, Australia. While studying Physiotherapy, Elisa also trained as a classical ballerina. During this time, she developed a keen interest in the dance medicine and Pilates rehabilitation. Soon after graduation, and with the backing of an international scholarship, Elisa travelled to the UK where she underwent intensive training into the Pilates method. Recognizing the potential role of Pilates rehabilitation in the clinical setting, Elisa developed and her colleague Glenn Withers, developed the Modified Pilates program and co-founded the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). The APPI is now internationally recognized as a leader in Pilates teacher training for health proferssionals. Over the past ten years, Elisa has developed her clinical skills in the fields of dance medicine, having worked with both the Royal Ballet School and the English National Ballet. Elisa, along with her colleague Glenn Withers, have also answered the call for unique Physiotherapy and Pilates centres by opening centres in Hampstead, Kilburn and Wimbledon.

Elisa has broad experience in all areas of Dance medicine, including dance assessments, pointe assessments, acute dance and longer term rehabilitation of dance injuries and ‘side stage’ Physiotherapy.
Personal interests:
Elisa very much treasures spending time with her expanding family of 4! She also loves the ballet, theatre, long distance running and travelling and swimming in the sea whenever she has the opportunity.

Maria Moreno
Maria is a Physiotherapist and a Pilates Instructor from Spain. She attended the Baylor University Medical Center (Dallas, USA) in 2004 and she graduated from University of Alcala de Henares Physiotherapy School (Madrid) in 2005. After graduating, Maria worked as a physiotherapist in the USA before continuing her practice in Spain. Here, she worked as part of the team for the Olympic Gymnastics squad. She has also worked alongside one of the Physiotherapists of Real Madrid Football Club. Maria then went onto to specialize in Pilates rehabilitation where she has gained valuable experience with a broad range of clientele including professional dancers and athletes.
Expertise:
Maria has a background in Rhythm Gymnastics, therefore her keen interest in posture analysis and refinement of movement. She is especially focused on the re education of muscles to allow maximum strength and flexibility with the least amount of unnecessary tension.
Personal interests:
Maria enjoys running and swimming, dancing, playing the piano and traveling around the world and learning new languages.

Katie Hodge
Katie completed her Physiotherapy degree at Southampton University in the UK in 2000. She then went on to develop her skills and gain experience in a range of settings including in-patient and out-patient Physiotherapy before going on to specialize in Rehabilitation. Katie has recently returned from Hong Kong where she lived for the past 3 years. Here, she began practicing and studying Pilates and gained her Pilates certification from Polstar Pilates. Katie recognizes the importance of Pilates in developing core strength and optimal posture for both rehabilitation and fitness clients.

As well are mastering qualifications in Physiotherapy and Pilates, Katie has also fully trained in Thai massage.

In her spare time, Katie enjoys keeping active with running and dragon boat racing!

David is a unique specialist in the fact he works both as a strength and conditioner and a physiotherapist. He has had over 8 years within the sporting industry and initially graduated from the University of Wollongong with an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise and Science. David has worked both with individuals and elite sporting teams within the industry including basketball, hockey, cricket, track and field, rugby, football, gymnastics and surfing.
After training many elite individuals at this level, injury can occur as a result of high training loads and David decided to further his knowledge in this area. He went on to study his postgraduate qualification completing his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney in 2007. His physiotherapy experience stems from rehabilitation with the general population and with National level athletes of which he finds his greatest passion.

He also finds enjoyment from rehabilitating individuals ranging from Olympic level athletes to your average office worker as everyone has a special story to tell. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if the patient is working full time or training full time, their schedule is fundamentally based on their lifestyle and aimed at seeing them return to their true passion.

Trevor SchoonraadTrevor joined Pilates Art Physiotherapy in 2009. He comes with an extensive background in classical ballet and over 15 years of personal experience in Pilates. Trevor has comprehensiverly trained with Peak Pilates and Polstar Pilates. He has furthered this initial training by completeing a Classical Teacher TRaining programme with Peak Pilates. In addition, Trevor holds a Diploma in Personal Training including Fitness Instruction and Nutritional Advisor and Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy.
Trevor conducts a wide variety of mat and reformer classes. Having worked alongside Physiotherapists for many years, Trevor also holds a keen interest in the rehabilitation of injuries.

Nicola GeismarNicola has trained across the disciplines of dance, movement and mind/body therapies. For many years she studied Hip-Hop dance and worked with some of the best in the field. She has worked on countless projects teaching dance to young people in London and internationally.
It was a natural progression to research deeper into the mechanics of the body. Nicola has travelled and worked in several exciting cities worldwide including New York, Montreal and London. Having trained as a Pilates Instructor but always looking to broaden her horizons; she now teaches an impressive repertoire of Pilates/Kids Yoga and Dance. Being able to combine her passion for the body, with working amongst people of all ages is a true gift.
In her spare time, Nicola enjoys snowboarding, going out for a good old dance and traveling to new places!

Tegan FletcherTegan Fletcher is our expert Myotherapist from Melbourne. Myotherapy is a very unique profession here in the UK. Myo (meaning muscle) therapy is the assessment, treatment and maintenance of muscles using various techniques including massage, cupping and needling. It is important in the management of any injury and is highly beneficial alongside Physiotherapy and Pilates programs. It is also very popular for its benefits for general well being. Tegan, studied intensively for three years in Australia to attain her degree. Since this time, she has worked throughout Melbourne, New Zealand and London in the sports and private practice settings. Her professional interests include working with acute and chronic neck and low back pain, repetitive strain injuries and during rehabilitation phase following orthopaedic surgery.

As well as possessing many unique forms of massage, as a Myotherapist, Tegan also has expertise in dry needling to reduce tension in muscles and trigger points, stretching to increase muscle length and tone, corrective exercises specific to the individual to strengthen and improve posture and cupping increases blood flow to help speed up the healing process and realign tight muscles.
Personal interests:
Coming from Australia, Tegan like to be active and remain fit! In her time she enjoys her own Pilates, running, playing netball as well as hitting the slopes in winter for a bit of snow boarding!

Tim MaddenTim completed his physiotherapy degree at La Trobe University in Melbourne in 2007. After two years working primarily as a musculoskeletal outpatient clinician in Melbourne, he has decided to travel and broaden his physiotherapy and life experience. Tim began work with Pilates Art in mid 2010 and is looking forward to further progressing his physiotherapy skills, and beginning his formal education in Pilates.
Expertise:
Tim has a keen interest in sports injuries, post-surgery and return to work rehabilitation, and neck/back pain.
Interests:
Tim has a background of playing Australian Football and Cricket at competitive levels in Melbourne, and understands the physical demands of sport at all levels. He also has a passion for music, travelling, spending time with loved ones and a good book. Tim enjoys meeting new people in his role as a physiotherapist, and helping them restore maximum function so they can achieve and gain the most out of sport, recreation, work and life.
